Leading Stainless Steel Sheet Suppliers in China
Jiangsu Daxun Alloy Co., Ltd. can provide upon request: Alloy 17-4 (H900, UNS S17400) plates.
CORROSION RESISTANCE:
- Our products withstand corrosive attacks better than any of the standard hardenable stainless steels.
- They are comparable to Alloy 304 in most media.
- Our steel is corrosion resistant in various chemical, petroleum, dairy, and food processing industries.
- Note that it may be subject to crevice or pitting attack if exposed to stagnant sea water for extended periods.
WELDABILITY:
- Successfully welded by most common fusion and resistance methods, making it versatile for a wide range of applications.
- This material should not be joined by oxyacetylene welding to ensure structural integrity and performance.
- Typically, no pre-heating is required, simplifying the welding process and saving valuable time.
- Inter-pass temperature must be strictly limited to 248°F to maintain optimal material properties.
- Achieve better toughness in the weld after a thorough and complete heat treatment process.
ELEVATED TEMPERATURE USE:
- Exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation at temperatures up to approximately 1100°F.
- Be aware that long-term exposure to elevated temperatures can reduce toughness in the precipitation-hardened conditions.
PROCESSING - HOT FORMING:
- For forging, heat uniformly to 2150°F - 2200°F and hold for half an hour per inch of thickness.
- The preferred temperature range for hot forming is 650°F - 900°F while the steel remains austenitic.
- To ensure optimal conditions for hardening operations, re-heat treat the forgings at 1875°F - 1925°F.
- Cool forgings to below 90°F to refine grain structure and enhance material properties.
PROCESSING - COLD FORMING:
- Alloy 17-4 is limited to mild operations due to its hardness in the annealed (solution treated) condition.
- For severe cold working, heat treat the material to condition H1150 to prevent possible cracking and ensure reliability.
- A bend radius exceeding 7T is often required to maintain material integrity.
- To enhance stress corrosion resistance after cold forming, re-age at the precipitation-hardening temperature.
MACHINABILITY:
- This alloy can be machined effectively in both solution-treated and precipitation-hardening conditions.
Mechanical Properties
- Type 17-4PH stainless steel boasts excellent mechanical properties, making it ideal for applications requiring high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance. It's also a cost-effective alternative to many high nickel, non-ferrous alloys.
